Should I refrigerate my products?
All of our non-seasoning products should be refrigerated after opening. We use fresh fruit to make our sauces with no synthetic preservatives, so refrigeration is required to extend their lifetime. 

Our seasoning products can be stored in a dry, cool place like all other spices. We feel they’re enjoyed best at room temperature.

Why is my sauce a different colour than last time? Why might it taste slightly different?
Island Chef sauces are produced in small batches and can vary in colour and slight flavour depending on each local crop. We never use additives or colouring. Our sauces are 100% naturally delicious.

At the end of each growing season some peppers, such as the Thai chili, are picked in batches regardless of their colour. Thai chilies can be red or green, which can lead to a brownish hue in some sauce batches. Each batch produces approximately 500 bottles of sauce, so depending on the time of year during which the batch is produced, the sauce colour may vary from your previous bottle.

Am I able to try a free sample before ordering the full-size product?
We are not offering free samples at this time. Feel free to check back in the future for updates regarding samples!

Why did my sauce separate?
Our sauces are completely natural, which means they are void of emulsifiers such as Xanthan Gum. These emulsifiers prevent the separation of liquids and solids. All you need to do is give the bottle a shake and enjoy!

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your order weight and ordering region.

Do I have to pay sales tax on my order?
Sales taxes are charged for Canadian orders only. Taxes for each order are charged based on your ordering region. 

Do I have to pay sales tax on US and international orders?
We do not charge sales tax on non-Canadian orders at checkout.

Island Chef Pepper Co is not responsible for any taxes and customs that are charged on international orders that may be applicable when the order enters your country.

Can I use multiple discount codes?
Only one discount code may be used per order.

Online Reseller Authorization
Authorization to resell any and all Island Chef products online on any website is done on a case by case basis. No reseller can resell on Amazon or any other retail site on the internet without written authorization directly from Island Chef.

What should I do with the peanuts in my order packaging?
Our packaging is environmentally friendly. The packing peanuts are made from corn starch, so they are compost-friendly and dissolve in water!

My order arrived in the winter and my sauce was frozen on arrival. What do I do?
Our hot sauce is hot, but not that hot. Due to extreme weather conditions we’ve had reports of bottles freezing and breaking while in a mailbox or at the front door waiting to be picked up.

Please notify your mail person to not leave your package in the elements. We are not responsible for frozen or broken bottles due to your local weather conditions.

Please report it immediately to the mail person and make an insurance claim on it. You’ll have to keep the damaged product and packaging for evidence; do not throw it away. All packages have an automatic amount of insurance that will cover the cost to reorder.
